
MERA PEAK A superb trek in Everest area GRADE : A DURATION: 16 - 25 DAYS Max. altitude: 6476m Mera Peak (6476m) is the heights of Nepal's permitted trekking peaks and stands in beautiful isolation, dominating the wild and heavily wooded valleys. Mera adventure trek begins with a flight to the small airstrip at Tumlingtar. From here we descend to the deep gorge of the beautiful Arun valley. The views along this section are superb, eastward Kanchenjunga and Jannu, north the Hinku and Hongu and above Mosum Kharka. The trail to Tangnag consists of grassy fields surrounded by stunning peaks. We then have to move up to Khare to establish base camp at the foot of the glacier leading to Mera La (5415m) and again have several days for acclimatization and exploration. High camp at Mera glacier (5801m). After summit, return to Lukla airstrip via Hinku.Possibility to start and end then from Lukla which can be done in 16 days. |
