GOKYO TRAIL Magnificent short trek GRADE: C DURATION: 11 DAYS Max. altitude: 4791m.  The Khumbu region boasts some of the highest mountains in the world, including Everest, and some of the most beautiful, Ama Dablam and Nuptse. It is also the home of the Sherpa people whose skills as mountain guides and porters have made them famous. It's active monasteries are the center of the Buddhist Lama culture and its festivals are many and colourful.This trek is a quick trip into Sherpaland and involves a flight into a 2804m. airstrip. It is therefore necessary to proceed slowly to allow yourself time to acclimatize since altitude sickness cannot only ruin your holiday but prove fatal as well. |
